Thimble Farm Hooperekho (Perekho), owned by Bonita Habitzruther, is the first Service Dog to come from Thimble Farm.  He helps his owner navigate and accomplish daily tasks.  I bet you never thought of a Great Pyrenees doing this!  Although Great Pyrenees are wonderful livestock guardians, they also are wonderful protectors of their people and families.  Easy to train, a Great Pyrenees can learn whatever you would like him to learn.

What a stunning dog and it’s so heart warming that he is a service
dog. To me that means he would have a beautiful nature along
    with great intelligence.

It’s amazing, the aptitude for work Pyrs show. I never expected such an independent, intelligent dog to be so readily socialized to people and still maintain their working skills, but after working with Charlie I can easily believe that a Pyr would make a fabulous service dog. Val’s dogs are certainly bred for temperament as well as for beauty. Well done Val!

  3. Thank you Toni and Lora.

  4. We have had our Pyr for not quite two years, and he has been going through his service dog classes quite easily. We never knew that Pyrs were not supposed to make good service dogs. In fact we just got a second Pyr puppy last week because we had had such a good response from our current dog. They are awesome dogs to have in your family.
